Always wash your hands before caring for your new tattoo!!
Keep the wrap on until you get somewhere safe to clean it. (DO NOT RE-WRAP). You may see blood or weird color liquid under the bandage. This is normal.
Take the bandage off slowly and wash the tattoo with non-scented antibacterial soap and water, scrub with your fingertips, and pat dry with a clean paper towel.
You can then apply a thin layer of Ointment or unscented lotion to the tattooed area. ( I will give recommendations and visual examples of ointments and lotions)
DO NOT USE towels or anything with little fibers that can cause irritation that can lead to infection!
Clean at least twice a day with non-scented antibacterial soap and water before applying a new layer of ointment.
Use ointment for one week. Apply only a thin amount of ointment to your tattoo for 5-7 days.
STOP USING OINTMENT WHEN ~ Your tattoo is itchy~ This means it's healing, time to give it some moisture and love.
Also, use clean bed linens and bath towels throughout the healing period. Especially if you have an animal that sheds!!
After one week of using the ointment, switch to non-scented lotion. It's important it doesn’t have any of the little beads, sparkles, or scent! Alcohol is used to add scents in lotion, and that will cause your ink to dry up and scab.
Scabing is BAD! Peeling is GOOD!
I recommend leaving the bandage on for 5-7 days.
If the bandage leaks or busts, remove it and clean the area as instructed above.
To take the bandage off, it's best to take it off against your skin, under running warm water. Take your time and don't just rip it off.
Once the bandage is off give the area a good clean as instructed above!
PEELING IS GOOD, SCABING IS BAD.
In the process of your new tattoo healing, it will become very itchy.
DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT YOUR TATTOO.
It will peel, but let dead skin fall off on its own. At this stage, your tattoo is almost healed, and now is not the time to ruin it! Love pats are encouraged to succumb to the itching. But also be sure to give it that lotion love to relieve any dryness and itching.
Aquaphor
Hemps
Lubriderm
Avoid anything scented or with any beads or glitter in it. That will cause irritation!
What works for you, works for you. As long as the tattoo heals great with the vibrant colors. Use what works best for your skin!
